The Silent Crisis: Why Men’s Testosterone is Crashing & What It’s Costing Us

When we think about testosterone, many Blokes think about your performance in the bedroom (stronger for longer), sex, and erections. But things are a lot more serious than that and it is time to realise that there is a quiet health crisis happening right under our noses and it’s time we started talking about it.

Having recently written a book myself trying to motivate Blokes to be proactive rather than reactive regarding their health, both physical and mental, I am guilty of neglecting this topic myself. However, the facts are the facts and male testosterone levels are declining faster than ever before. This isn’t just a problem for older blokes. It’s affecting men across all ages – and the consequences are far more serious than a drop in libido or gym gains.

Low testosterone is increasingly linked to infertility, fatigue, mental health struggles, poor sleep, weight gain, and even chronic disease. And yet, for too long, the male body has been neglected in health conversations. Why? Because we’ve been told to “man up,” “get on with it,” and to ignore what our bodies are screaming at us.

Well, not anymore. We have to be aware and accountable and understand that we need to look after our assets. Multiple studies over the last two decades have shown a steady decline in average testosterone levels in men. This isn’t just about aging, it’s about something deeper, more systemic.

Modern life has become a perfect storm for hormonal chaos:

• High stress, poor sleep, and endless screen time

• Sedentary lifestyles and ultra-processed diets

• Exposure to plastics and environmental toxins (yes, those endocrine disruptors are real)

• And now, an under-recognised factor: testicular heat from tight clothing, laptops on laps, phone-in-pocket habits, and more.

I recently had the honour of writing the foreword for an upcoming book by Saara Jamieson, launching in October 2025, titled COOL BEANS. It’s a bold, science-backed deep dive into testicular heat, the collapse of male health, and how we’ve allowed our most vital systems to be ignored or dismissed.

This book doesn’t tiptoe around the issue. It uncovers how our daily habits, the things we think are harmless are heating us up from the inside out, wrecking sperm quality, hormonal balance, and long-term health. Saara doesn't just raise awareness she brings solutions. Here’s the real kicker - Male fertility is plummeting worldwide, and testosterone decline plays a massive role in that.

This isn’t just a problem for older blokes. It’s affecting men across all ages.

The World Health Organisation has flagged male infertility as a rising global concern – but again, where is the conversation for men? Where’s the education, the prevention, the ownership?

We can’t afford to shrug this off anymore. Testosterone is not just about “being a man”, it’s a fundamental hormone for total body health, including:

• Bone density

• Muscle mass

• Cardiovascular health

• Cognitive function

• Emotional resilience

Letting it crash is like watching your engine fall apart and just turning the radio up louder to drown out the sound. It’s time to break the silence, hence my Blog and Saara’s book.

BLOKES, your health matters. Your hormones matter. Your fertility, energy, drive, and mood are not just random they are connected to your hormonal ecosystem, and that system is under threat.

So what can you do?

✅ Watch your sleep, stress, and movement


✅ Keep your cool – literally. Pay attention to testicular temperature

✅ Talk about it. Open the conversation. This is your body, own it.

This isn’t just about men’s health, it’s about our collective future. So, let’s stop pretending everything’s fine. Let’s stop waiting until we’re broken to seek help and let’s start making testosterone and male health something we respect, understand, and protect.
